“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” Col.3:23-24 (ESV)
In its nearly 50 year history, Mt. Salus Christian School has shown a strong commitment to serving others. With a Christ-centered focus, it is the hope of those at MSCS to continue this legacy by serving our families, the community, and even the world. Service in the name of Jesus Christ is a common Biblical theme, as supported in Romans 12:1, John 12:26, Matthew 23:11, and Mark 10:45, to name just a few. The main focus for service and missions at Mt. Salus is to put others before self, as Christ, who came not to be served but to serve. In this same manner, MSCS strives to encourage our student body to serve. Service comes in many forms: from helping at our school (cleaning, painting, volunteering, etc), to helping within our community through local churches and organizations (Active Impact International, CPC, FCA, Angel Tree, etc). We want service to be a reflection of the Gospel and give our students the opportunity to humbly serve.
Outside of service to our school and the local community, we also want to give our students the opportunity to serve in the world. Another common thread of the Bible is to go out into the world and tell of Jesus Christ to all the nations. The opportunity to witness to those of other cultures comes in visiting other countries alongside missionaries/mission organizations. The idea is to open the eyes of our students to the needs outside their own backyard, to see the needs of those internationally and to form relationships with people from all walks of life. In our future, we see opportunities to build relationships where we can learn from other cultures as we assist in areas that can make a long lasting impact. While not an easy task, this is our goal.
Our hope is to begin something that can be sustained for the next 50 years of our school and beyond, to leave a truly lasting impact in the name of Jesus Christ.
