We are pleased to have a wonderful team of faculty that challenge and inspire our high school students in their academic efforts. They strive to nurture critical thinking skills and creativity in light of God’s Word, the Bible.
CURRICULUM
At Mt. Salus, our students are challenged in all areas, including but not limited to academics, discipleship, and leadership. Students can anticipate challenging academic classes continuing in the Mt. Salus tradition, which has led many students to achieving high scores on the ACT, PSAT, and SAT. STAR students each year have received scholarships to schools of their choice. After-school clubs in the areas of Academics, Art and STEM are offered to students in both Elementary and High School. It is our desire to see every child succeed and reach their full potential.
TECHNOLOGY
We strive to prepare students for college and the future work force by incorporating technology into our curriculum. Kindergarten – 9th grade have access to Apple iPads for use in technology class and specials.
Students use educational applications to help learn and reinforce a variety of concepts from math to spelling. In addition, keyboarding and various software applications are taught in the upper grades.
We have a 1:1 MacBook Air program for 10th-12th graders. We continue to expand and improve our technology program to meet the needs of our students as we prepare them for wherever God calls them beyond their time at MSCS.
HINDS COMMUNITY COLLEGE PARTNERSHIP
We are pleased to offer our high school Junior and Seniors an opportunity to earn college credit while enrolled at Mt. Salus. Our partnership with Hinds Community College gives qualifying students the option of taking several dual credit courses. The courses are taken on the Mt. Salus campus where students receive high school credit and college credit for the same classes. Each course is fully transferable to any college in the state of Mississippi.
The courses expected to be available during the 2017-2018 school year are: Art Appreciation, Spanish, English, and Advanced Science. There are ACT subtest scores required to qualify for the dual credit classes. Please contact our school counselor for details.
