1. What drew you to teach Math?
We serve a tremendously complex and orderly God. I firmly believe that many of His attributes are found through studying Mathematics. The natural and beautiful way that various topics build upon each other, and the joy that comes through understanding the “why” is so fulfilling. I was drawn to teach mathematics because I see a powerful and logical Creator in the very way that our universe is set up.
2. As an alumna from Mt. Salus, what brought you back to teach here?
While at Mt. Salus I had the opportunity to be molded and pushed by several teachers who greatly influenced my choices and development into adulthood. Those teachers gave me the opportunity to foster my love for learning, and passion for being challenged. After college, I felt a clear calling from the Lord to return to Mt. Salus to use my knowledge and abilities to serve the students that the Lord places here. I know that the Lord wanted me to return to Mt. Salus to be the influence in our students’ lives that my former teachers were for me.
3. What do you like most about your profession as a math teacher?
As a mathematics teacher, I have the opportunity to help students expand their knowledge, and develop skills essential for success in life. I have the chance to push students to expand their minds and grow their problem solving skills as they have the opportunity to investigate the world around them.
4. What do you hope to accomplish as a teacher at Mt. Salus?
To expand and further the mathematics program and classes offered, provide students with an environment in which they are challenged to grow, serve the families that come to Mt.Salus and the community around us.
6. Beside Mt. Salus what/where else are you involved that God is using your gifts for His glory?
God has seen fit at this time to place me in several growth groups that have required me to exercise my gifts of hospitality and care of others. My husband and I are blessed to be able to open our home to others for a weekly men’s study. We are plugged in with a wonderful Life Group at Broadmoor Baptist Church, where we have various opportunities for monthly service projects to local and international ministries.
