Who We Are

At Mt. Salus Christian School, God’s Word guides everything we do.

Our goal is to partner with families to help K3-12 students grow—both in what they know and who they’re becoming—through a strong, Biblical worldview education.

We want them to leave here equipped for life beyond graduation; ready to serve Christ in their communities and in the world.

We’re more than a school. We’re a ministry.

What Our Faculty Are Saying

“One of the best parts of teaching is witnessing growth. Taking a student from where they are to where they need to be is so encouraging!

It is beyond rewarding to see a student grow closer to Jesus as they learn and deepen their knowledge.”

Jessica Gregory
5th & 6th Math & Science

“Knowing that I can share and live out the love of Jesus with my students and watching these kids grow into amazing young adults is truly inspiring. I also love seeing them realize they are capable of doing hard things!”

Our History

A Story of Faith and Resilience

The history of Mt. Salus Christian School is a testament to God’s faithfulness and the enduring vision of providing a Christ-centered education for families who value it. We are dedicated to shaping minds, forming hearts, and impacting eternity.

The Early Years: A Vision Takes Root (1970–1986)

Founded in 1970 by Mt. Salus Presbyterian Church to establish an elementary school offering a Christian alternative. In 1973, we joined the MPSA.

A Revival and a New Spirit (1987)

The school faced closure, but God raised up leadership in Phyllis Hurley and Dennis Bomgaars and provision to keep our doors open. Inspired by Isaiah 40:31, the school changed its mascot to the Eagles, symbolizing renewed strength and faith in God's provision.

Expanding the Vision: The Birth of High School (1995–2003)

The need for a Christian high school led to the formation of the Clinton Christian Education Foundation (CCEF) in 1995, resulting in the creation of Covenant Christian High School in 1996. In 2003, Mt. Salus Elementary became accountable to its own board.

A United Future: One School, One Mission (2004–Present)

In 2004, the boards of Mt. Salus Christian School and Covenant Christian High School merged under the name Mt. Salus Christian School. In 2013, after weather damage, the entire school (K–12) moved to one campus, graciously hosted by Providence Presbyterian Church, uniting our community to continue diligently shaping minds, forming hearts, and impacting eternity.

Accreditation

Mt. Salus Christian School has been accredited by the Mississippi Association for Independent Schools (MAIS) for over 40 years. In addition, through the MAIS we are Cognia accredited.
